YOU CAN BE YOUR ENEMY (Self Enemy)

YOU CAN BE YOUR ENEMY (Self Enemy) Scriptural Solution Insight

Meditation:  2 Chronicles 18

I came to understand this in a book I wrote titled Prepared for War, You need to know your enemy before embarking on any war. It was highlighted in the book that we have five enemies, and when you know your Enemy it will be easy for you to fight any battle. And one of the enemy to know is you. Yes I mean you. The thing that happens most of the time is not the devil that causes it but sometimes you are your worst enemy.

St. Paul describes this when he says “joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a personal (Roman 5:7: 22-23)

It’s only Christ that can set you free from this enmity with yourself (cf Romans 7:24-25). With that! Your evil behavior and wrongdoing are enemies of yourself, the thing you do that is against you,  makes you enemies of yourself. Many times what you are supposed to do, you fail to do, and what you are not supposed to tell others you tell them and they come as an enemy of progress in your life. Samson was a good example, if Samson refused to tell his sister Deborah his power, Samson would not have shaved off is seven hocks of his head (Jude 16:18-20)

We are enemies of ourselves in many places because we will inflict ourselves on things that are not for us. Jehoshaphat inflicted problems into his life because he failed to obey God's prophet. When Ahab decided to go to war with Syria in RAMOTH Gilead, he asked Jehoshaphat to support him in the war.

Jehoshaphat agreed to go with him without first getting a clearance from the Lord. Jehoshaphat got himself involved in a battle that was not his own. He heard Ahab decide that he hated the prophet of the living God,  And he also heard what the authentic prophet said would be the outcome of the war, yet he followed Ahab to fight in a battle that God did not endorse for him.

Many people are enemies of themselves because they fail to follow God's decision and it sets a trap of death for them. Ahab cleverly set a death trap for Jehoshaphat.

2 Chronicles 18:28-32 “So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the King of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead and the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go to battle, but you put on your robe” so the king of Israel disguised himself, and they went into battle. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots who were with him, saying, fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.``

Accordingly, Jehoshaphat is the king of Israel because Ahab has disguised himself as a soldier because of Jehoshaphat's self-decision (not God's decision)he became the enemy of the king of Syria He set a trap of death for himself, see what happens after Ahab has set a death trap of Jehoshaphat. “When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel'' Therefore they surrounded him to attack: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the lord helped him, and God diverted them from him. For so it was when the captains of the chariot saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him” (2 Chron 18:28-32) who does not know that it is the King or the commander of the army that is often the prime target of the enemies? Once the king or commander of the army has been killed or captured, the battle is over, The soldiers under the command of the captured king would scatter.

When they got to the war front Jehoshaphat was targeted by the Syrian captain of the chariots As they surrounded Jehoshaphat to launch their attack, Jehoshaphat cried out to the lord, and he saved him.

It is your own time; you have understood most time you are the enemy of yourself, but it is time you got saved as Jehoshaphat cried out and called on God to save you  “Psalm 50:15 “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me”

Jehoshaphat called on the name of the Lord amid the battle, and the Lord saved him; no single arrow hit him. The Bible says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run to it and are saved” (Prov.18:10)

Finally,  If you fail to work on yourself you are an enemy of yourself. Ignorance can make you enemies of yourself,  invest so much in yourself to become a friend. When you're ignorant you are the number one enemy of yourself. Add value to your life. Make yourself a friend. God bless you.

Let's pray,  Father deliver me, from the area where I am my enemy.  Save me, empower me, and open my eyes to see in Jesus' name. Amen

Lesson:  You can be your enemy, not all wars are from Satan.  Work on yourself.
