REASON WHY SPEAKING IN TONGUE?

Yesterday was the PENTECOST Sunday and after the Church, I got some questions from 3 people, and all this question was centered on Speaking in Tongues. It shows that many are still confused about why they pray in tongues. Speaking in tongues isn't a religious thing. It's an utterance to be aligned with the will and plans of God for our lives. It's a communication of the Spirit. That's why St Paul says in 1 Cor.14.14 - For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. Do you see that It's Your spirit that prays when you pray in tongues? 

Let me do justice to an issue, according to the scripture. Most believers Pray in Tongues. When tongues are not only the evidence that you have the Holy Spirit. Praying in Tongue has a special role to play in our Christian Journey to unveil many hidden secrets of the Kingdom. Speaking in tongues is part of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. When my generation only believed that only those who speak in tongues have the Holy Spirit. Let me show you a scripture.

1 Cor.12.10 - to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kind of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Let's be a believer who balances life, and let's not be part of the believer who looks down on someone who is not praying in tongues that they have no Holy Spirit. I will talk more about Speaking in tongues as a gift in another article. 

Praying in tongues is needed, as long as we don't want to be praying our will. It edifies us to pray for his will. His will is being known by the Spirit 

Eph.5.17 - Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Eph.5.18 - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

From the above scripture, the will of God is being known to you when you're filled with the Spirit. The spirit brings understanding to his will. So to pray for the will of God you need to Pray in tongues. And another way to pray the will of God is praying his written word.  

When you pray in Tongues, you're Communicating with God. The more you talk with God, the more you become. According to the letter of St Paul to Corinthians, he makes believers understand that Praying in tongues is the language of angels not of man. So anyone who prays in tongues talks to God. 

1 Cor.14.2 - For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit, he speaks mysteries.

That's why tongues are an error to those who don't have this understanding of the above scripture, when you pray in tongues, it's speaking from you to God, and no man understands it. And praying in tongues allows you to understand spiritual mysteries about many things. I have seen many times that I will lack revelation on what to write in an article and I will switch to Praying in tongues and mystery and understanding will Come.

Speaking in tongues is for personal edification. The word edify means to build, construct, improve, to instruct.  Speaking in tongues it's of personal use, to build you, to improve you so areas you've built can be used for the edification of the body of Christ. According to Paul tongues should be more useful in personal devotion and prayers. Then being used in the church without interpretation. 

1 Cor.14.4 - He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

Speaking in tongues is mainly for personal edification. According to Jude.1.20 - But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

It's also a personal thing, But YOU. BUILDING YOURSELF.  To build myself,  I need to pray in the Holy Spirit. 

In conclusion, Speaking in tongues, Is mainly needed for building up and accessing mystery but leave you with St Paul's letter in 1 Cor.14.5 - I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
