WE ARE IN THE WORLD BUT DON'T BELONG TO THE WORLD.
WE ARE IN THE WORLD BUT DON'T BELONG TO THE WORLD.
As believers, we are ambassadors in this world, meaning that our time here is not permanent; we are here to represent the Kingdom of God. It's painful to see many living as if this world is their home forever. This season reminds us to retreat from worldly distractions and recognize that while we exist here, we do not belong here. We may possess many things in this world, but the true treasures are beyond it.
Believers are called to represent Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). An ambassador stands for their home country in a foreign land, just as we represent God’s Kingdom while living here. We are to live by the principles of God, not the world's values. Our mission is to share God’s message of reconciliation and love and reflect Christ’s character in our words and actions.
This season of Lent calls us to prepare for the emptiness of the world and draw closer to God, who sent us here. Many pursue worldly desires and forget their true origin. It is a call to repentance and to seek first the Kingdom of God. Life in this world is temporary; no one remains here forever. We must consider what our report will be when we return to our Kingdom. Believers are called to engage with the world without conforming to its corrupt ways.
There’s nothing wrong with a believer having possessions in this world; God does not oppose this. Everything in the world was created by Him for the use and dominion of His children. However, we must be cautious that our possessions do not lead us away from God. Many treasure worldly things more than they treasure God. This season calls us to detach from anything that draws us away from Him. These are the distractions Jesus warned us about, as taught in the Gospel of John.
John 17:15 - "I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one."
John 17:16 - "They are not part of this world any more than I am."
John 17:17 - "Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth."
John 17:18 - "As you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world."
As long as we are alive, everything about us is tied to this world; we are immersed in it. How we live here determines our report in our Father’s Kingdom. We are called to live righteously and be impacted by the truth we are taught. We have often failed to live God’s life in this world, instead allowing worldly ways to infiltrate our lives in Him.
Ultimately, this season of Lent invites you to repentance and reconciliation. It’s time to pause, turn back, and realign yourself with God. Let Him take the lead. Repent. God bless you.
I hope you find this insightful.
