WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT MOTIVATED
*WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT MOTIVATED*
Often, we find ourselves lacking motivation or energy; it's a common experience for almost everyone. However, getting stuck in these phases can be detrimental.
Motivation plays a crucial role in achieving success and fulfillment in various areas of life. It boosts our productivity, enhances our focus and direction, increases our confidence and self-esteem, improves resilience and perseverance, and fosters a positive mindset. When we are motivated, we become effective in the tasks we undertake.
Scriptural Guidance for Staying Motivated
Psalm 73:26 states, "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Our motivation comes not from human sources but from God. The scripture reminds us that our flesh and heart may fail, but God provides the strength we need. Let your encouragement stem from the Lord. Encourage yourself in Him. Even when we feel weak, our strength is renewed as we wait upon Him.
Insights from "What Matters" by Darius Foroux
In Letter 3 of "What Matters," Foroux offers valuable advice for those who feel lost, unfocused, or demotivated. He suggests picking up a book on a topic of interest, emphasizing that the pursuit of knowledge should be our purpose. Acquiring knowledge nourishes our spirit. Learning provides energy, even if we don't utilize every piece of information we encounter.
I can personally relate to this experience. There are times when I feel unmotivated about my business, so I turn to books or revisit my vision and goal statements for strength. I research individuals who excel in my areas of focus to learn from them. I always remind myself: no matter what, I will not give up.
Ultimately, whether or not you directly apply what you learn, pursuing knowledge contributes to a fulfilling life. What is good? The knowledge of life. What is bad? Ignorance of life. To gain insight into life, seek wisdom through books, articles, and conversations with others on a similar journey. By committing to continuous learning, you'll find it challenging to remain unmotivated for long.
