What If It Doesn't Work? (The Fear of Failure)

What If It Doesn't Work? (The Fear of Failure)

Welcome to a new week! I’m refocusing on being productive again after taking some time off. I appreciate those who checked in on me; your support means a lot. Not being able to express my thoughts has created a mental burden. I’d like to share what often prevents many of us from taking action toward our visions and dreams.
For several months, we've been considering relocating our workshop to a permanent site. However, the fear that our customers might not follow us to the new location has held us back. This fear of failure restricts many of us from achieving greatness or advancing to the next level in life. It has stopped my team from exploring new opportunities, and it can keep others from even trying. The reason you might hesitate to tackle your challenges is that you fear failure.

Failure is a part of growth; it provides valuable experience and teaches us what to do and what steps to take. Just because you fail doesn't mean you don’t know what you're doing; it simply means you didn’t do something correctly.

In my case, my fear of failure stems from a lack of trust in the person who assigns the tasks. Instead, I focus on the assignment itself. Fear often arises from various root causes: a lack of trust in God, pride, comparison with others, or forgetting our identity in Christ. It can also come from a lack of direction and knowledge. As believers, whenever we experience a fear of failure, we should check to see if we are lacking trust in God. Leaning too much on our own understanding can lead to fear and inaction. However, when we trust in God's understanding, we realize that everything works for our good—even when we fail.

So go ahead and start pursuing your goals. The spirit God gives us is not one of fear. As stated in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Be courageous and take steps forward with God’s power. The reason fear often grips us when we want to take steps to advance our vision or dreams is that we may lack power, love, and self-control in our lives.

You have the power to move mountains. You can create and innovate. With the power of the Holy Spirit, you can accomplish your goals.

Finally, I encourage you to read my article titled “Do It Afraid.” It emphasizes that fear shouldn’t stop you; instead, keep moving forward. The real fear should be not doing what you are meant to do—not the fear of failure. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. Your trust in the Lord will guide every step and action you take.

God bless you. Keep me in your prayers.

I hope you found this insightful.
