THE SACRED WEEK: CHRIST'S SACRIFICE

**THE SACRED WEEK: CHRIST'S SACRIFICE**

Welcome to Holy Week! This significant time historically enriches our belief in Christ Jesus. Holy Week invites us to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice, renew our faith and commitment, and prepare spiritually for the joy of Easter and the celebration of the Resurrection. It allows us to walk through the final days of Jesus’ earthly life, leading to His sacrificial death and resurrection. Every major event during this week highlights the depth of His love and the purpose of His mission. Today, I would like to share with you the essence of Christ's sacrifice, which is central to the Christian faith.

Jesus knew that suffering and death awaited Him. Still, on Palm Sunday, He entered Jerusalem on a donkey, hailed as King. Instead of fleeing from the impending death, He chose the path of obedience. His sacrificial life makes Him the Savior of the world. His obedience redeemed us to God the Father.

Why did He choose to sacrifice Himself?  1. *To save humanity from sin:* Jesus' death was the ultimate act of love, taking the punishment for our sins so that we could be reconciled with God. 2. *To fulfill God’s plan:* His sacrifice fulfilled prophecies and the law, providing a perfect and final atonement for sin, unlike the repeated animal sacrifices in the Old Testament.
The Stations of the Cross guide us to understand the significance of Christ's sacrifice on Earth before fulfilling His divine assignments. Every time I meditate on the Stations of the Cross, I am moved to tears 😭 😭 😭 because I see a man who sacrificed Himself for me.

What was the sacrifice?
*Jesus died on the cross:* He suffered a brutal crucifixion, willingly giving His life despite His innocence. *He bore the weight of humanity’s sins:* Spiritually, He experienced separation from God so that we wouldn’t have to. His sacrifice removed the barrier of sin, granting us access to God.

Ultimately, this week is about Christ's sacrifice. Each day's readings lead us through His arrest, persecution, and death. It is up to us to partake in His sacrificial life, so we can reign with Him at the end of our journey on Earth. Without His death, there is no redemption.

Welcome to Holy Week. God bless you!

I hope you feel inspired!
