Submitting Your Logical Reasoning to Know God More

Submitting Your Logical Reasoning to Know God More

In the journey of faith, there comes a point where you must submit your logical reasoning to know God more deeply. While logic and reason are gifts from God and play essential roles in helping us understand creation, make moral decisions, and navigate life, they are not sufficient on their own to fully grasp the mystery of God.
My Catholic faith integrates both faith and reason, holding that faith is not irrational, but rather harmonizes with logical understanding. Faith, in this context, is not a blind leap—it is a trust rooted in God’s revelation, which can be explored and deepened through both faith and reason.

But we must humbly recognize that God is not bound by human logic. His ways often transcend our understanding. There are moments in the Christian walk when God's instructions do not make human sense—yet obedience becomes the key to revelation. To deepen your relationship with God, you must be willing to submit your logic and trust in His will, even when it defies your reasoning.

As you grow in faith, you learn that in some moments, logic leads, helping you grasp deeper truths. But in other moments, faith and reason lead to a trust rooted in God's revelation. When you rely only on logic, you limit your ability to access the mysteries of God. Faith opens the door to spiritual truth that logic alone cannot reach.

However, when dealing with human beings—whether prophets, priests, or spiritual leaders—you must engage both reason and faith. Discernment requires that you do not blindly follow any man, but test every spirit and teaching with both your understanding and your faith in God.

Scripture:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Ask yourself: Are you logical about your relationship with God?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own Understanding.
